Property management locksmith work is easier to control when each request identifies the property, opening, authorized budget and completion requirements. A unit turnover, common-area problem and after-hours lockout should not be treated as identical work orders.
Make every opening identifiable
Use the property name, building, unit and a door reference when available. Add clear symptoms and hardware photographs. Identify whether the entrance uses the landlord’s master system or a resident-controlled lock so the appropriate authorization can be obtained.
Set approval boundaries before work
Include the PO number, person opening the request, on-site contact and approved spending limit. State when work may proceed within that limit and when a detailed estimate is required. Resident availability, scheduled access and emergency priority should be recorded separately.
Use completion evidence that helps the next visit
A concise record should explain the finding, work performed, installed parts and any remaining recommendation. Authorized before-and-after photographs can show the relevant hardware condition without exposing access codes or private interiors. Update key issuance and electronic access records through the responsible administrator.
